Music and Memory
Music and Memory offers personalized digital music to our members. Being able to relive the cherished memories of a favorite song awakens smiles, joy, and happiness. Listening to a personal music selection increases socialization and connection to others lessening the isolated effects of dementia.
Ageless Grace is a mind-body exercise program with a focus on keeping every part of the body moving to the beat of the music. Using the science of neuroplasticity, movements encourage exercise of the brain to lessen depression, and increase energy. All exercise is performed in a chair allowing everyone to participate regardless of function and ability.
Music Mixing offers an opportunity for creative expression through musical instruments. Designed by the Creative Arts Therapy Center in Downers Grove, music encourages therapeutic movement using rhythm, dynamics, and harmony to express feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Music is a universal language and research findings indicate the overall benefit of music for older adults with dementia, Parkinson's disease, depression, and those experiencing isolation and loneliness.
