Community Adult Day Care opened its doors in 1986. The idea of an adult day care materialized after a coalition of local churches identified a need and an interest in serving older adults in the community.
In particular, the organization was formed to provide a safe, dignified, pleasant environment for adults needing daytime care and offer families a quality alternative to full time care in the home. Beginning as an all volunteer organization, in 1987 Community Adult Day Care was incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and has resided in the lower level of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Downers Grove for the past 30 years.
Today, the staff includes an Executive Director, Program Coordinator, Registered Nurse, and program assistants. In 2015, the name was changed to Community Adult Day Center to reflect the variety of programs and services available to adults and their family caregivers.
